The diamonds are placed in many piece of jewelry with different kind of diamond setting. Diamond setting is also called diamond mounting. There are a lot of diamond setting available today, which you can choose according to your own personal style.

Diamond setting is affecting the light performance of a diamond. Light performance in the gem trade means three light properties, these are brilliance, fire and scintillation. Diamond that is said to be high in light performance means that the diamond is well cut and polished.

There are many kind of diamond setting, and the most common diamond setting is Prong. In the prong setting, there are 3, 4 or 6 ‘claws’ that held the diamond securely. This diamond setting allows light to enter the diamond from all angles, so the diamond appears more brilliant. The prong settings are used in diamonds jewelry such as rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

One type of prong setting is Tiffany setting. This is a diamond jewelry with four prong setting. The Tiffany setting was produced for the first time in 1886.

The next common diamond setting is Bezel. In the bezel setting, the diamond is placed inside a circle of metal. The edge of the metal can be molded into any shape to accommodate the stone. This diamond settings are used to set earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. The backs of bezel settings can be opened or closed, and might allow light to pass through the diamonds.

The channel setting is a more modern diamond setting. In the channel setting, the diamond stones is placed side-by-side in a line without separated by the metal. The outer ridge of the metal have the same height as the diamonds and create a smooth exterior surface. This diamond settings are used to set jewelry bands or rings, and bracelets.

Diamond price is definetely higher than other jewelry with no diamond on it. Diamonds are exclusive jewelry, some of them are very rare, this makes the diamond prices are expensive.

There are few things that influence the price of diamonds. These include the diamonds cut, color, clarity, and carat weight (4 Cs). Each of these measurement can either increase or decrease the diamond price.

Diamonds are cut in many shapes such as princess cut, emerald cut, oval, heart, round, and pear. Excellent cut grade diamonds will have higher price than good cut grade. Excellent or very good cut grade diamonds posses more sparkle and brilliance.

Color of the diamond also influences the diamond price. Colorless diamonds are the most expensive, as well as fancy color diamonds such as pink, green or blue diamonds. Black diamonds also have high price.

Diamonds clarity grade is the top measurement of the 4 Cs, this grade influence the diamond value more than the other factors. Diamond clarity grades of VVS1 or VVS2 are hard to find, these diamonds are almost pure. Therefore, diamonds with these high clarity grade have higher price. The most expensive clarity grade are diamonds with Internally Flawless Diamonds clarity grade. The lower diamond clarity grades include SI1 or SI2, these diamonds have lower diamonds price.

Diamond carat perhaps is the most common measurement that people recognize for determining the diamond price. Diamonds with bigger carat weight will have higher price. One carat equals to 200 milligrams or 0.2 g.

Two diamonds with different size could have the same carat weight. One diamond may appear bigger on the surface, but shallow in depth. The other may looks smaller, but heavy in the bottom. Both of them have the same carat weight.
