Knowing How To Tweak Your Diamond Purchase

buy diamond

buy diamond

There are three things one should consider when buying a diamond: personal taste, knowledge, and buying power. While each of these factors will pay a clear role in the diamond you finally choose to get, you may be surprised to know that when it comes to buying diamonds, personal taste is going to definitely have the largest influence on your decision. After that, you want to know a little about the diamond quality and value. Finally, the one thing that most people put first on their lists of concerns can actually be the least influencing part of the buying decision. Here’s why.

Personal Taste

Let’s face it, the jewelry we choose to wear reflects our personal taste and image. Some people prefer larger stones, others smaller ones. Some people want a fancy colored diamond, and others are happy with a traditional white stone. The way the diamond is set is also going to reflect the personal taste of the buyer, including the choice of metal or other stone. Personal taste is going to determine what stone your get, the shape, and the color too.

Knowledge

However, even if you have your heart set on a pear-shaped pink diamond, you still have to have some knowledge of what quality and value it represents. That’s why the 4 C’s are offered to let the buyer understand how a diamond is graded on a standard scale for color, cut, clarity, and carat weight. Based on that information, the actual value of the stone is determined.

Buying Power

The consideration that is easiest to tweak here is buying power. If you find a stone that is similar to what you want, you can tweak the buying price by manipulating the 4 Cs. You can change the color, the cut, the clarity, or the carat weight and significantly change the price, thus making the actual sticker value less influencing of the actual design one ends up with.
